Abstract: Today's usage of Decision Support Systems (DSS), combined with vetted PLM knowledge bases, allows organizations to save time and money, achieving better and more reliable/fully-documented decisions, a quantum improvement over the widely-used subjective process of selecting complex enterprise software...
Abstract: Past experience shows us that the vast majority of enterprise technology
evaluations run over time and budget, and once selected, the majority of the implementations fail to meet functional, return on investment (ROI) and total cost of ownership (TCO) expectations. Many companies have consequently been stuck with under-performing software products and dejected users, and are still unable to gauge their system to determine how far they are from the ideal solution for their business requirements.

Abstract: Past experience shows us that the vast majority of enterprise technology evaluations run over time and budget, and once selected, the majority of the implementations fail to meet functional, return on investment (ROI) and total cost of ownership (TCO) expectations. Enterprise technology selections for ERP, CRM, SCM, and other enterprise applications provide valuable lessons that can be applied to selecting PLM software, but there are some key differences that need to be recognized.
Abstract: The future of the PLM Suite will include more applications that cover product-related functionality and further expand the benefits available. As the PLM Suite matures, companies will benefit from increased functionality and increased integration between business processes. The ultimate expression of this more mature solution will result in a broad suite of focused, integrated applications that leverage a core of unified, structured product data - the PLM Platform.

And the choices as to which software tools or system an organization should employ in its initiatives should be entirely based on the review and assessment of its current PLM system.

Abstract: A Process PLM system must accommodate rapid, global deployment of the system. This need drives specific requirements to minimize both the start-up and the long-term cost of ownership of the system. This article, third in a series details those requirements.
Abstract: Companies that took an early adopter approach to PLM are beginning to show significant reductions in new product introduction lead times and to benefit from meaningful cost savings by executing a series of focused, high return projects
Abstract: Electronics manufacturing is one of the most complex manufacturing processes. Special software functionality is required to manage information throughout the supply chain, collaborate with subcontractors, and minimize development time. Learn about product lifecycle management (PLM) and product data management (PDM) solutions that provide the right data management functionality for electronics manufacturers.
Abstract: Because product marketing managers constantly juggle competing priorities, companies should consider implementing a formal positioning process as a way of cloning their product marketing managers. Rationale documents and message strategies become vehicles that transfer product knowledge to marketing and sales.

Abstract: Ford Motor Company and Oracle Corporation announced the formation of the AutoXchange, an integrated electronic procurement supply chain to be created and run as a joint venture.
Abstract: With the number of vehicles worldwide expected to triple in the next few decades, the toll collection market will need to adapt to meet demand. Increasing traffic will make the use of conventional toll plazas unfeasible. Electronic toll collection (ETC) systems can help by supporting multilane, free-flow tolling that can be tailored to specific standards and processes. Find out what you need to know, before ETC passes you by.
Abstract: The global automotive and wholesale distribution industry moves more than 50 million motor vehicles from factory floor to dealer to customer every year. Companies that operate in this market sector perform a difficult balancing act between the vehicle makers on the one side and the dealers and the consumers on the other. Abstract: During the course of product evaluations for a customer, the Technology Evaluation Center has uncovered a potential security hole in SAP R/3's three-tier architecture. SAP has revealed that they expect the database or third party products to handle security between the application server and the database server. If the client does not take these extra measures, the master password for the SAP database instance travels over the network in the clear, and can be captured. PeopleSoft has the same issue.
Abstract: As businesses become increasingly dependent on the effective delivery of IT services over global networks, technologies that optimize application performance over wide area networks (WANs) become more competitive. But how do you know which WAN to choose when there are so many solutions on the market? By learning about WAN best practices and principles, and by making comparative evaluations of competing vendors’ offerings.
Abstract: When considering adopting cloud computing or software-as-a-service (SaaS), a question most potential customers ask vendors is “How secure will our data be in your hands?” Customers are right to ask this question and should closely examine any vendor’s security credentials as part of their cloud/SaaS evaluations. This document is intended to give a broad overview of one vendor’s security policies, processes, and practices.
